Happy New Year

IMG_0881.JPG20070710_cozumel_p71_7d3e92.jpgHope everyone had a wonderful and joyous holiday season and a great New Years weekend. Tina and I grabbed a last minute flight to join some friends for a dive trip in Cozumel. Several of the days were spent watching our first real Mexican winter storm… consisting of a 30-40 mph wind and on and off rain. We stayed most of the week at Papa Hog’s, with the last 2 days at Casa Del Mar. We met Karl and Ann from St. Paul and Dexter from Grand Forks allowing us to have our own private dive boat during the week. We had hoped for a night dive on New Year’s Eve, but decided to skip that trip as we would have shared a larger boat with 12 tourists from Texas.. seemed like too much chaos.

I behaved and stayed above 100ft this trip but was able to reach 90 feet several times. My favorite spot is still the Palancar Reef, as there is so much formation to view and swim thru. Saw eagle rays, turtles, sharks, eels, starfish, lobster, barracuda, parrot fish, angel fish, spotted drums, and many many other fish. I hope to post some video from one of the dives on this.

As I do not “do” underwater photography yet, any under water shots posted are ‘borrowed’ from the pros (Karl, Ann and Russ). Lots more to follow….
